Deadbeats's Hall of Lame, Page 1

WARNING!

Do not sign me up for any mail lists. Studio42 does not accept such unsolicited business. Also, since I've recently been getting a flood of such e-mail from various people and organizations I don't wish to deal with, their names will end up here, along with their home and business addresses, and phone numbers, whenever possible.
Please realize that 99.9% of internet users DON'T want your crap in our e-mail boxes.
Minimum fine for violation of this policy allows me to legally bill/invoice for $500 and this can be escalated to a court of law.

Last update: 04/23/1997 to yet another clueless spam from Owls Nest. TWICE

And now, without further ado, Studio42 presents the:

Sam Meltzer, McRenH@msn.com
Posted to me a variation of a pyramid scheme, requiring me to call a 1-800 number and punch in some code. Obvious form letter with an "insert your code here" type deal.

Art Kovach, arthur3@ix.netcom.com
Again, another dork doing a pyramid scam using different 1-800 number and punch in a different code. Different format, this dork couldn't find the CAP-Lock key. Obviously got so exicted he authored his own spam.

The c|net newsletter, dispatch@CNET.COM
support@CNET.COM
Whoever these dorks are, they either STOLE my address or bought it and then
tried to get me to sign up for their web searcher service. Again, what is
advertising crap doing in my email box? It took over 20 attempts to get removed
(because their engine doesn't work) and had to have police intervene. Talk about
a non-respectable entity.

Honorable Mention due to C|Net association:
shareware.com

This is what a "whois" look-up produced:

>whois shareware.com
cnet, the computer network (SHAREWARE3-DOM)
   150 Chestnut Street
   San Francisco, CA 94111
   USA

   Domain Name: SHAREWARE.COM

Administrative Contact, Technical Contact, Zone Contact:
      Cnet, Hostmaster (HC165) hostmaster@CNET.COM
      (415) 395-7805 x569
   Billing Contact:
      Payable, Accounts (AP297) accounts-payable@CNET.COM
      (415) 395-7800

It took 6 weeks and 300 attempts to get removed from their list. Again,
I had to bring police in to get removed. Seems that C|Net turns over all
of their lists toshareware.com, who then in return begins to harrass you
with unwanted email. Despite following their removal instructions, that
only got me an automatically generated reply with more instructions, and I
followed those. That in turn generated another automated reply, which
prompted me to repeat the ORIGINAL instructions. You can see where this was
going. So, there was an address to send email to in order to report problems
getting off the list. That only got me instructions that starts this entire
cycle all over again. I could tell as the weeks went on that complaints were
mounting, as that "problem report" address vanished. Also, the removal
instructions changed, not that it mattered any, because you'd get 10 more
spams identical to what you just got when you attempted to get removed from
the list.

5000 Western Ave. Box 2100
Knoxville, TN 37921

This idiot emailed me an advertisement for a pyramid scam, telling me I
was already removed from the list(there was no list to be subscribed to),
telling me to send money and then add my name to the list. Typical crap.
Oh, there was even a big claim of how this was legal(signing people up on
a list by having them pay is illegal) and how to make more money by renting
the list out for direct mail crap. There was also this lecture section
saying how the list is monitored to ensure honesty. Yeah right. What an
idiot. I'm sending this prick an invoice for $75

4/29/96
koolcat@aol.com
Applied Micro
PO BOX 4867
Boulder CO
80306-4867

This incredibly stupid person tried selling me some porn. Thanks to the
address (although notice the PO box), hopefully this special brand of scum
can be tracked down and jailed. No doubt this is a scam operation, with the
indicator being the PO box, a standard scam-artist tactic. This person will
be billed $150.

Update: 8/5/96
Address proved to be bogus, and the message was a forgery.

5/17/96
jim pavlish, jpavlish@cyberdrive.net

This idiot decided that I want to buy a list of 500 FREE places to advertise,
based on some usenet post I made. In the last 2 months, I've made no effort
to act like I want to advertise, especially since I DON'T advertise.
This jerk expects me to fork over $40 for a list of 500 FREE places, or $20
for 200 free places. That's a scam if I ever heard one.

This dork's fax line is: 216-468-3593, so please fill it up with as many obscene
and nasty messages as possible.

5/10/96 21:57
SOMSER BBS, somser@cnx.conexis.es

Some crappy BBS decided that an excellent way to launch itself was to steal a
mailing list(that I was not signed up for) and then SPAM about 500 people. They
are located in Spain and this is obviously a pirate board with LIMITED hours. This
dork can't make a commitment to anything.

There was a lot of follow-up flaming that unfortunately went to all the other
victims in this massively unwanted mailing.

On the plus side, the spam was also written in Spanish to piss off people who speak
that language too, or else pissing off people twice who are bi-lingual and speak both
English and Spanish.

5/23/96 00:35
discover@sisna.com

These idiots tell me how I can "reorganize my time" for more efficiency. Hey,
we can all reorganize our time better by not having to deal with idiots like
this. Then they expect me to fork over money for advertising I don't want,
that I didn't ask for, and that I don't need. To make this even better:
If I were to pay for this advertising, they'd spam roughly 10,000 RANDOM people,
assuring me it would get to the people I want to see it. NOT!!!! So, they send
me spam to get me to pay them to spam others? I think not! They assure me that
unlike snail mail, email will not get trashed. Wrong again, email gets trashed
easier than paper mail, as the delete key requires so much less effort.

A $150 invoice is going to:
Discovery I.M.P.
P.O. Box 7744
Mesa, AZ 85216

Notice the usage of a PO Box, a common tool of illegal businesses.

"Internet Deals"

This idiot decided that I wanted junk mail. Well, this bozo though wrong. He
obviously picked up my address in a news group(where my signature now warns of
the monetary penalty) and spammed me to join his internet service. SCREW YOU!
I'm not going to pay some asshole so I can call LD to Texas or pay money for
web space I don't want. Get a damn clue.

term@portlandweb.com
Bruce Keller, 203-869-8137

This moron felt he was doing ME a favor by sending me information regarding
most likely some bogus stock for most likely a bogus company. What sort of
idiot blindly sends out "investment advice" to people who don't want it?
If this person is a VALID stockbroker, which I seriously doubt, he should
have his license revoked and should have to work as a janitor for the rest
of his life.

Update: 8/05/96
Thanks to some additional information regarding the above mentione idiot from
a source who will remain anonymous(to protect their identity), I was led to a
site that does a similar concept as this page: expose and trash spammers. This
"term@portlandweb.com" is very crooked and should be avoided. If you get any
email from "term@portlandweb.com", please forward a copy with full headers to:

Well, this uncreative hunk of crap decided to email me a pyramid scam.
Isn't that nice? It's the same one floating around recently. Here are the
BS highlights:
Maxed out Circuit City card
Shelled out $14.95 here, $29.95 there, $24.95 here, and another $49.95 there.
Just got himself a NEW Black Acura Integra.

Isn't it amazing how all these stupid idiots always have the
same debts and cars? Isn't that kind of ODD?

AURORA, OHIO 44202

This is a subdivision of a company that offers spamming services, as well as
legitimate advertising(although not much of that). Freeway tries to get you
all excited by mentioning "free stuff". What I find odd is that one of the
first things mentioned after the "free stuff" is to be removed from the list.
Obviously, they just pick up or buy names or lists and then spam them.

What's worse is this idiot is spamming me at work. I don't even post news
or read news from work. Obviously someone is selling my address, or this
prick is getting my work address from my home signature. What a sad and
bored individual. Usually, when an animal gets like this, it gets put
to sleep. I think there should be exceptions made so that humans like this
can be put out of their misery so the rest of us don't have to put up with
it.

Since "clever.net" hosts the domain "dm1.com", I've taken the liberty to notify people at clever.net, dm1.com, PSI.net, interramp.com and pipeline.com I DEMANDED removal by following his "remove" instructions 150 times, plus including full email headers, the whois lookup information on dm1.com, and of course the original message. I don't see how something can call themselves a legitimate marketing company when they send stuff to people who don't want it, especially their spam. Upon further poking around, they have their domains hosted in wierd ways. Over 4 domains are involved in this operation. All administrations have been nofitied.

Why am I being told about this stuff? This is spam, and I don't want this crap in my email box! Regardless. I was spammed with "investment" information. Too bad he didn't mention the company, which sends up flags to me that this is not legitimate. The spammer wants you to involve: jenny31@juno.com, via email so they can fax you some crap. Of course, he thinks he can avoid a fine by putting at the last line: (quote) This is not a solicitation to buy or sell securities but for information purposes only. (end quote) Dude, that is UNSOLICITED ADVERTISING. Did I specifically say "send me some crap?" No, I don't think so. Further information gathered from the headers show this to be a forgery going through Netcom. As much as I don't like Netcom in general, I hate to see ANY online service being abused in any way. This is a 4-in-1 scam. 1: Get email addresses for 64 cents a month. Yeah right. Are you honestly going to provide me with an SMTP server and my own domain? If not, then piss off! 2: He'll scan your photos for $3.50 each. The catch: self addresses stamped envelope. This dillweed is too cheap to include shipping. Not a whole lot of options either. 3: Dirt cheap web sites. Guess what? No features either. Want a boring page you'd be embarrassed to call your own? This fart-knocker will post it for you. Hey, you get what you pay for. 4: To wrap it all up, they boast themselves as full-featured. Hell, they sound as if they are willing to swallow the $100 Internic domain fee, but they charge you $25 a month. Get your own domain somewhere else, it will be cheaper. And to top it off, this major idiot spammed me at work. Can you be even stupider? A $150 invoice goes to here: Internet-Aid 4335 Bradfordville Rd Building B Tallahassee, FL 32308 Of course, I'm sure the folks here would appreciate knowing what their users enjoy bothering others with: Global Tech 2000 at (817) 472-9516 Remember, call collect with an operator, call late, and talk for a LONG time.

What are you selling? You certainly don't describe the product. What is it, a pyramid scam? "Reputable" people? Yeah right! A reputable business does not SPAM people AND at the same time describes the product. So, to make sure you got my point I sent 300 emails regarding removal: 100 for REMOVE 100 for UNSUBCRIBE 100 for LEAVE I think I crashed the mail server! Too damn bad! You spam me, you earn my wrath. It appears Telysis appears to be concerned about spam although I've seen no follow-through on the part of administration yet. Why spam people? Of course, he claims that if I send a certain message(other than the usual "rot in hell you felching spammer" message), I'll never get spam from them again. I've heard that line before, you lying sack of crap! Check out the name of the company: The Red Pages and C.A.R.E. ( 1-800-257-7831 ) "Concientious Advertising thru Responsible E-Mail" What a load of crap. If they were both CONCIENTIOUS and RESPONSIBLE, they would not have spammed in the first place. Of course, advertising directly contradicts being CONSCIENTIOUS and RESPONSIBLE. Ooh, are you in luck. Notice the 1-800 number? Call between 8AM and 5PM when the rates are higher. What should we care? It's not like we're paying the bill! Also, call from a payphone as they can snag your number if you call a 1-800 number. This person sent it's spam through Compu$erve, where it then rode on the MCI network for a while, to ultimately get to my mailbox for no reason other than he is stupid. The best part is that as a default header/footer, it proudly proclaims it to be unsolicited commercial email. That makes it that much easier to collect the money. Of course, this spam-company called ISP-Inter.Net wants me to tell my internet service providers all about them. I sure did, I told them to ban these idiots from the internet.
