Thank you for your message to Hotmail. The account that you reported is not
a valid account. The individual is forging message headers, suggesting that
the message originated with Hotmail. Email addresses beginning with numbers
are not valid. Email addresses that have additional information in the
domain name are also not valid.
Examples:
2abd@hotmail.com
ilovetrash@hot.hotmail.com
All message headers from the Hotmail system include a line that reads
[X-originating-IP] to ensure that the message is an authentic message from
our system.
Example:
Tue 02 July 1997 13:47:27 PST
X-Originating-IP: [123.4.567.89]

Hotmail members cannot post directly to newsgroups. Members must go through
a service, such as Deja News, or use another email program.
If you receive email of an 'adult' nature, bearing Hotmail in the message
header, it has probably been forged. The benefit of this, from the sender's
standpoint is that you will complain to Hotmail, and the sender can
continue to send unsolicited bulk email (aka "spam") without consequences
since his or her Internet Service Provider is never alerted. We suggest
that you display the full message header to determine the domain from which
the message actually originated.
Currently, we have open lawsuits against many of these "spammers" who are
forging addresses from the Hotmail domain, and we are actively pursuing
prosecution. Please help us by forwarding all junk email with the Hotmail
domain name in the headers or bodies to abuse@hotmail.com
There are several places where a sender of unsolicited bulk email ("spam")
can find your email address: chat rooms, bulletin boards or newsgroups,
unsecure public email directory listings, or any site that requests your
email address.
If you respond with "REMOVE" to a Hotmail address, the sender never sees
your request - it is our policy to shut down any account that violates the
Hotmail Terms of Service (TOS). When you reply to junk mail, the sender
then knows that your email address is valid and active. Your reply message
only adds to the strain on our resources and does nothing to deter the real
culprit.
