Thank you for your message to Hotmail. The account you alerted us to is not
a valid account. The individual posting with that user ID is forging mail
headers so that it appears the messages are originating from Hotmail.
Please note that Ids beginning with numbers are not valid, for example:
2abd@hotmail.com. Also, all outgoing messages from the Hotmail system will
have in the mail header a line that reads
[X-originating-IP] to ensure that it is an authentic message from our
system.
Example:
Tue 02 July 1997 13:47:27 PST
X-Originating-IP: [123.4.5667.89]

Subject: reading mail
Also note that Hotmail users cannot post directly to newsgroups. Users have
to go through a service such as Deja news or the have to use another mail
program. If you receive mail of an ?adult? nature, and it has Hotmail in
the mail header, the majority of these are forged headers. The benefit of
this, from the spammers standpoint is that you will complain to Hotmail,
and the spammer can continue to send unsolicited commercial mail without
consequences since their Internet Provider is never alerted. We suggest the
with the mail reader program you use that you enable the mail reader to
receive FULL message headers since most default to a basic setting where
you will only see a date, from, to and subject field. If you do not know
how to do this, please contact the technical support for the given program
you use, such as Internet Explorer, Netscape or AOL.
There are many ways that a spammer can get your email address: IRC, chat
rooms, and bulletin boards among others. When you respond with REMOVE to a
random mailing, the spammer will actually circulate your email address for
future mailings because the spammer then knows that your address is valid
and accepts mail. For instance if the mail shows amy_19@xxx.com and the in
the body of the message is reads: To be removed from this list respond to
archie@blahblah.com, generally it takes about a year to get off a mailing
list once your address has been circulated. We encourage the you visit the
